Hi everyone was thinking about naming the tables after my animals, past & present as I'm a huge animal lover & animals have been a big part of my life. Haven't ran it by Mike yet as he is out for the night drinking laugh.gif

E.g

Lily
Happy
Blaze
Scooby
Smudge
Aztec
Sugar
Spice
Luke

or is 1, 2, 3... alot easier

i think thats a great idea, very personal smile.gif you could include a photo of each pet, or a note about them.

Have you ran it past him yet? he might want to mention some of his past/present animals as well, if he does then could you add some of the names together i.e. if happy and smudge are hamsters then name the table after them both iynwim?

You could add old pictures of the pets to the table card thing so people know what the names refer to, I think its a great idea, al ot more fun then 1,2,3 smile.gif

I read somewhere that naming tables is a better idea to numbers as if you put someone on table 5 they might think it's personnal they're not on table 2. Me and my H2B is from the Isle of Wight so we're naming our tables after towns on the Island. smile.gif

I agree it's much more personal to name your tables especially if it's something associated with the two of you smile.gif

I'm struggling to think of a theme for our table names (well, that's not strictly true. I'm struggling to find themes that h2b also likes!!)

When I first suggested the table names he went "oooh I know" I got all excited that he had some brilliant idea and then he said "we could name them 1, 2, 3, 4" mad.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

I love the pet names, but one of h2b's cats was called Itchy, I don't think it would be nice to sit at that table!

i think its a fab idea, me and my h2b are cardiff city footy fans so we got a royal blue theme and we are naming our tables after past and present cardiff players with pictures instead of table numbers

I think it's lovely to have personal table names - BM was married last year and had titles of Oscar Wilde playsm which was a lovely touch to those who understood but there were some people who didn't get it sad.gif As someone suggested, offering a little explanation of the name (perhaps on the back of the table name) would be a good idea. Using a photo of the pet might be nice too.

H2B proposed at a music festival in texas so we are naming our tables after bands we saw out there and having tracks by the bands played during our meal (one of the tables is called 'Lets Wrestle!" so I hope the guests dont take it literally!)

I too think that's a lovely idea, after all the whole wedding should about things that mean something to you both as a couple.

Thankfully for me my H2B agreed with my idea straight away....which totally floored me LOL!!! biggrin.gif

We are both total Arsenal fans but I wanted to do something a little different than naming the tables after players; legend or current. So.....knowing how much the old stadium Highbury means to Gooners I am planning to name the Top Table after that and the rest of them after famous football stadiums in Europe, eg: Nou Camp, Bernabeu, San Siro etc etc. I'm going to include the crests of the teams that play at those stadiums for the guests who have trouble reading the names LOL!

H2B thinks it's a great idea which, as I said, surprised me as I expected some reservations!!

As we got engaged on the beach in Antigua we are having a beach theme and all the tables are named after Caribbean islands. x

Hi all! This is my first post on thr forum - sooo looking forward to looking at everyones ideas etc!! We aren't getting married until 2012 but have decided on what the tables will be named after... Transformers! Each table will be named after a transformer character! H2B is a huge fan and has been since he was little so thought we'd incorporate that into our day! Although table names is as far as I will go, there will be no Optimus Prime wedding cake much to his dismay!! Lol! Am loving the ideas I have read so far!!

I think that's a brilliant idea... trouble is I can only think of about 5 really meaningful dates lol. I'm thinking about having important places instead, ie where we first met, our first date, each of our flats that sort of thing then having the wedding location for the top table.

Definatley a good idea to name tables and make it more personal to you. We're naming ours after ski runs from a resort we go to. My h2b is a ski instructor and he introduced me to it and now I love skiing too, so we thought this was a nice way to incorporate our hobby into the wedding. When we were skiing this year we took a photo of us both next to the name of the ski run so we can put it on the table along with the table name x

I love the idea of naming tables as it gives the wedding our personality. We are naming our tables after Madonna & Michael Jackson songs. As we have both been very big fans from very young. More Madonna for me and more Michael J for H2b. Thought they both have music through many generations, and we have guests from many generartions. Cant wait,so excited!

Nice idea. I think your H2B will definitely go for it and he will probably want to add some names of his pets too.

I like the idea of not telling your guests what the names are about and letting them guess, it could be a little mystery for them to solve and be an ice breaker on the tables.

We are going to name our tables after places we have been on holiday, although having only been together just under 2 years when we get married in Nov, we are having to use places we have just been for the weekend too, and our top table will be the town we live in. Was hoping to have the name cards in the shape of the county, but that won't work as some of them will be town names.

we've not decided yet, but each have ideas!

As our vague theme is green and leaafy, I wanted to name them after forests/woods that we've been to (such as The New Forest where I worked one summer, or the name of the local woods where h2b used to play on his bike as a kid)

h2b wants numbers, but not 1, 2, 3, 4 etc, he wants to use random numbers "5, 27, 93 etc!) tbh, that's so him bucking the trend just for the sake of it.. i'm tempted to do it just to see the confused look on guests faces!!

Yeah, I heard about the table number issue too and dont want any of our guests to feel less important than others.

We decided to use the names of our favourite restaurants - from home and abroad!

Gives a personal touch & no worries about ranking issues!!

I think anything that is personal and a talking point is a great idea!

xx

I heard that too.

Me and the H2B are both from broken families, so we're going to have to arrange our wedding breakfast around that. No top table, my parents being nowhere near each other, his parents being nowhere near each other, and my mum isn't exactly fond of the H2B's step mother...it's all fun fun fun

Anyway, I'm trying to talk my OH into having table names instead numbers. As you can probably tell by my name, I am a chocoholic...so tables named after my favourite chocolates will probably the way I'm going - Galaxy, Ferrero, Lindor...

Man, I need some chocolate!
