Hi Everyone,

I'm totally new to WI forum even though i've bought the mag for the past 12-18 months! My hubby to be has Greek heritage on his fathers side, and sadly as his dad is no longer with us we thought we'd give a little nod to his heritage in our wedding day. Our tables are going to be named after the greek gods and my dress has a sort of Grecian feel but i was hoping i could have some help with ideas for Centrepieces and favours and the BM dresses (which will be red). Hope you can all help and any other ideas for other parts of the wedding are greatly appreciated!

For centre pieces you could always try to get hold of a ruined column and then wind all sorts of foilage etc round it xx

You could have flowers on pillars a bit like this

goblets instead of wine glasses, platters of fruit (mainly grapes) maybe have gold leafed ivy icing on your cake? maybe have table names in antique style gold frames?

Hi!

We got married in Kefalonia and incorporated a little bit of Greece into our theme.

At our reception in Kefaloina we had:
Our tables decorated with fresh bougainvillea flowers (which you can grow in the UK)
We gave traditional greek sweets and mini bottles of ouzo as favours - the 5 sugar almonds would be a great idea & perhaps bottles of metax brandy instead of the sweets and ouzo!

Then at our UK reception we had:
Our tables decorated with martini glasses wrapped in ivy (fresh from our garden!) filled with olives and turkish (aka greek) delight (but not mixed in together!) each glass also had a mini bunch of grapes hanging from them too (hard to describe & I don't have any photos).

Honey is another Greek tradition - to give each other a teaspoon at the ceremony is for good luck & fertility (I think). So how about mini bottles of honey for favours?

With regards BM dresses, how about the high street stores? coast, debenhams, new look etc?

xx

Sounds great, love the theme. I make traditional Italian/Greek favours incorporating 5 sugared almonds. Take a look and get in touch if you would like to discuss a design. I would suggest, white, gold and foilage.

Hello there,

I really like your theme and your ideas for how to incorporate it into your day!! I thought you might be interested in the grape basket candles of bunch candle that I have on my web site so I've attached a link in case you want a look.
