Our wedding date is 11.12.2010

So far I am going along the lines of deep red, greens and hint of gold. We bot love Christmas but I didn't want to have Christmas stuff everywhere as I know the venue will be decorated anyway so didn't want to overload on the santas hee hee.

I did want deep purple originally as purple is my face colours, thought about a deep winter berry shade, then toyed with the idea of frosy theme, ice blues, whites and silvers etc but kept coming back to deep claret for BMs and H2B tried on his suit with claret cravat and ivory and claret waistcoat and he looked a dish!

I am thinking about baubles as favours but unsure yet! I did see some fab chocolate dipped strawberries dressed as bride and groom which I loved and thought would make fun and original favours but oh they were pricey sad.gif

Hello to another Christmas bride! There are quite few people getting married this winter so there's loads of ideas going around!

I was also going to have bauble favours but then h2b cousin got married at the end of november and she had them so as all of his family were there we're going to go for something different. But let me tell you, they went down a storm at her wedding.

I love the idea for your colours. I was toying with red and gold for a while but my sisters colours were gold and although I loved her day, I was after something a bit different. I them decided on silver and light blue but after finding a gorgeous bridemaid dress we decided that it wouldn't look right in light blue and have now changed to a navy blue to make it a bit easier to shop for dresses!

I've found that there is just so much that you can do with the theme of Christmas. For my centerpieces I'm going to be buying huge glass vases from Ikea and filling them with silver and blue baubles, may with fairy lights, depending on how they look. I've seen baubles holding place names which looks really good. Our cake is probably going to be made to look like the different layers are presents and our first dance is going to be to Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

At least you know that h2b is going to look very dashing!

Hello!!!

I love your ideas!! How fab!

I am thinking about buying glass vases (tall ones) for centrepieces and filling them wth pine cones and winter pot pourri so far but got loads of ideas!

oooooh that was my original thought for a wedding cake too, a stack of prezzies, I have found a design that I really like at the min, will try and upload the pics

Hmmm our first dance song id hard as we have so many songs close to our heart! Chasing Cars by Coldplay is one of them but I want Rule the Worl by Take That but also in the running is The Way You Look Tonight and I Wanna Grow Old with you by Adam Sandler (we loooove this song and the Wedding Singer is H2B ultimate fave film - LOL church tongue or porno tonfue mwahahahahahahaha)!!!!

I love the idea for your centerpieces, I bet they'll smell lovely. I've also seen somewhere on the internet simple twg arrangements too, which look good. We don't really have that many songs that we both love. It was either that or Snow Patrol Run because it was such a popular song when we first got together but I was worried that it might not work to slow dance to. So we went for Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and everytime I heard it in the run up to Christmas I couldn't help but think about our wedding, and I know that hearing it every year will just remind me of our day. I love you choices too.

Are you going to be having a Christmas tree in the room? I'm currently thinking, although it's so prone to change, of having all the favours made to look like mini Christmas presents and putting them under the tree.

I'm so glad we didn't stick with our original date in september because I'm aving so much fun with the whole winter theme!

Hiya

I am itching to start thinking about the finer details like the centrepieces etc but I am trying to focus on one things at a time (otherwise I will turn into bridezilla and my head will spin exorcist style LOL)

The room will already have a tree in it as the venue will decorate it for Christmas, whihc is why I am just sticking to Christmas colours

I am hoping to get our cards sorted next then will start shopping for my dress and BM dresses. We are lucky as have had so many good bargains, even our invite are getting done on the cheap as the H2B works as a print buyer so he deals with loads of printing companies. He came home last week with 5 huuuuge book filled with wedding invite samples and said pick the ones you like and I will get them done either free or discounted and at the end of the day to me that is fine! I was gonna make them myself but hey if I can get them done for me wa-hey!

We have fab deal with our photographer, we got the full copyright and getting every image too

Oh think it was always gonna be winter/Christmas with me! As soon as I said, loads of people said ah knew it would be December. I did fancy April though as I am 3-0(or 20-10 as I like to say) this April and we were thinking about having a joint celebration but wanted more time to organise it.

You have some great ideas!!! Love the ideas for your favours. Will have to keep in touch. I have considered Christmas Crackers for name places too.

Our venue will also have decs up but they're in gold and red. One of the other venues we visited offered to take them down for us on the day so I'm hoping the venue we're going to book will offer the same. We're adding to our costs by buying a tree and all the decorations in silver and blue but it's going to be our first christmas living together so we're going to have to buy all that stuff anyway!

Love the Christmas cracker idea! And what a bargain you're getting with the invites! Definately have to stay in touch!

I didn't watch sex and the city too often but I did see the last episode and everythime I hear that song it always reminds me of it!!

I think our wedding will be the biggest contradiction in history! We're not getting married in a church because neither of us believe in God and for us it wouldn't be right taking our vows in God's eyes, yet we're having a Christmas theme tongue.gif I'm thinking that we'll have to keep the Christmas stuff to a minimum at the ceremony as you're not allowed anything religious but the reception will be filled with the stuff!!

I too am having a Christmas wedding!!!

10/12/10!

Our venue will have several trees and will let us change the decorations if needed.

Our favours will either be small stockings or bags, with Gold coins and candy canes!

We are having pale gold for our colour with Red flowers, I too am trying to avoid over the top tack!

SO EXCITED!

I'm also having a Christmas Wedding! 23rd December 2011! Feels like ages away, but can't help planning things already!!! To begin with we wera a little bit concerned it is too near Christmas, as anyone stopping over will be waking up there on Christmas eve, but it had to tie in with work (I'm a teacher) and in the end, we decided lots of people would already have finished work for the Christmas holidays by then, so hopefully wouldn't have to take time off for holidays!!

We're going for a deep purple and white theme. Keep getting tempted by traditional deep red (it looks so stunning, and loads of inspiration!!!), but my bridesmaids are desperate for purple as it's 'their' colour!! Love the idea of the candy canes.....am trying to find someone who does purple and white ones at the moment to hang off the wine glasses! Hope you don't mind me pinching that idea!! rolleyes.gif

Hoping we can go for lots of fairy lights and candles everywhere, but will need to speak to our venue to sort that out! Have seen so many lovely ideas for table centre decorations.......my head is in a spin!!! Think I may delgate that task to my mum!!!

Think the baubles for favours sound fab......deliberating using them as name settings. Love the silver ones on cox and cox, but they are a litte pricey (have already overspent on the venue, so now have to really tighten the belt!!). Trying to decide if I could just buy a huge amount of normal mini ones and somehow doctor them to get a similar effect!! My plan is to get all this stuff in the Christmas sales this year!!!

What food are you all having? We get to have a choice of 2 starters, 2 main and 2 desserts. Can't decide whether to offer a traditional Christmas turkey dinner/christmas pudding as one option.....or whether most people will be having that a couple of days later, so to go for something completely different?? Mmmhhhhh.......decisions, decisions!!

Re the candy canes - I'm finding it hard to get the right colour (I want real pale gold!).

I have however found a reciepe on how to make them in a cook book I have, cant remember her name, but the books called home cookery and I saw it again the other day for £12 in Asda!

I think I have decided today to have candles, holly and mistletoe instead of traditional centre pieces, and I too want all the fairy lights!!!

Ooooh some fab ideas! I like the ideas of candy canes hanging of the glasses! I ahve got some christmas wine glass chamrs for the wine glass.

So far I am still toying with the idea of using crackers as place setting and putting a scratch card in them for the favours or getting baubles??

For the baubles, I was going to see how much they were to be printed but if it expensive I founf a site with personlaised ribbons to order to was going to order some ribbon with our names and date on then just by some decent baubles and tie the ribbon on the, so they are personlised in a way

Hi Mrs R2B and everyone else, I'm getting married in December too (23rd) so I've just joined the site hoping I can find some friends to share the planning and ideas (and the feeling of going mad). I love all your ideas here and we're going for the candy canes too which we're just putting down in place of favours which we'll attatch name tags. We're doing the whole thing on quite a small budget so I'm really try to make things (which may be a bad thing as I am scary bad at DIY).

I don't know if this would be of interest to anyone else but thought I'd share...as we don't have loads of money we're trying to think of some individual things to do on the day to make our wedding a bit different... We're having a dressing up box - a box box wrapped to look like a present, with some dressing up bits in. Not expensive, but we thought as a lot of out guests don't know each other it might get people chatting and would also make for some good pictures.

We're also asking one of our ushers to dress as Santa and give out some presents just before the speeches.

Is anyone having any kids entertainment at their day?

Would be great to swap some more ideas and see how your day is coming along xx

Not sure if you're still looking MrsD2b2011 but we managed to get baubles that doubled up as place name cards as well from Kate Aspen for less than £1.50 each. They're white so should fit in with your purple and white theme and took about 5 weeks to arrive.

Hi I am new to this I am helping my sister plan her wedding and I know this is quite an old post but she got some personalised baubles from a place called BusinessBaubles - if you google Im sure you will find them. They were ALOT cheaper than other places we looked. Good luck

For a centre piece the Christmas theme is perfect for DIY. You can pick up some cheap vases at a pound shop of something of the like. Fill it with little red, gold and green beads. Have sprigs of holly (preferably with the red berries still on) sticking out of the top. You can then add sticks of cinnamon and / or dried slices of orange around the edge. You could tie your chosen ribbon around the top. If you are feeling glittery you can mix fine glitter with PVA glue and you will make a paste you can paint on ... practically anything, that can add a sparkle and will dry clear. It is a current fashion to have DIY centre pieces due to the current economy and to 'add that soemthing extra.'

Also if you have children and it is cold you could always have a bit of fun with the drinks and serve something like this:

http://allrecipes.co...coa/Detail.aspx

I don't know if any of this helps at all but I thought I would throw my ideas out there.

Wow I'm loving all of these Christmas wedding themes! I'm getting married on the 4th Dec this year as Christmas is such a great time. Like some others here, I'm having a dark purple and shimmery white theme (would have gone red but my sister did so wanted to be different!) Am having a few Christmas touches: instead of name places, we are having christmas crackers with guest names on with breast cancer pins as the presents inside and trivia questions. We are also having little mini christmas trees as the table centres (the stars will be the table numbers!) Our favours are going to be personalised hot chocolate packets (with a dark purple label). Hope to have a few Christmas songs to dance to as well although we are having a very unconventional first dance song - the Baywatch theme tune :) Oh I'm so looking forward to it all - just wish I didn't have to do all the boring things of planning as well ;)

Hi Ladies!

I'm so jealous you all get to have your Xmas Wedding before me! (15th Dec 2012). Originally wanted a NYE wedding but budget was expanding rapidly so we decided the date was less important. 15th will be perfect. It's a week before my 30th Bday and we're having a honeymoon guest list so we can go and book a last minute holiday once the wedding is over and go away to beat the New Year Blues!

It's been fascinating reading all of your ideas, there are some excellent ones! I've been getting so excited trawling through the web looking for ideas. I've decided on making it a winter wonderland but without xmas overkill. Subtle hints here and there. Anyone wishing to swap ideas etc I'd be happy to have a gossip! Would be nice to talk to someone who isn't bored of me talking about this wedding in 2 1/2 yrs time! lol xx

You're my wedding date twin!!! I know what you mean about wanting to plan now! I asked my SIL to be my Chief Bridesmaid today and she is just SO excited that I can't help but be excited about it myself! I'm going for the whole winter wonderland look with silver, white (and a little splash of black) and LOTS of sparkles! I'm having candelabras for centerpieces that have crystal drops and standing ones for either side of the aisle as I want the ceremony and meal by candelight (I know it's cheesey but sooooo pretty!)
