Please help me I'm feeling stressed already...
We get married April 2011 and I cannot decide on a colour and or theme as yet. I would be grateful to hear all your feedback, cause I'm real stuck at the moment.
Colour ideas so far are; hot pink and orange, cadburys purple with lilac, turquoise, or midnight/royal blue with lime green!
Moving on from this, as we are getting married Easter weekend, I thought we could somehow incorporate mini eggs, lindt bunnies, easter egg hunt, lemon, daffodils etc
My favourite flowers are gerberas so they also have to be included.
My H2B is a Music teacher, so this has got to play a huge part, ideas have been vinyl records as table numbers or tables named after musicals, music note confetti or guitar picks sprinkled on tables etc etc.
Lastly, at the evening reception, I want to have a retro sweet bar, in the colour scheme of our choice if possible.
I think they are all the ideas off the top of my head.
Would it be too messy to incorporate all of my ideas with whatever colour we go for?
Please help!!
Many thanks for reading my ramble
xx

I was thinking the same thing - like the mini egg colours, pink/yellow/green/lilac etc but the pastel shades - you could use chocolate brown as an accent colour to kind of offset the pastelness if you thought it was a bit pale... i think your ideas are great, your theme would be Spring and you could have lots of daffs and baskets of eggs! Love it - can you tell I wanted a spring wedding but got stuck with October?!!!

I agree with the above posts, pastel colours would look lovely for a spring wedding.
Don't stress too much yet, have you found your dress and venue etc? Those played a big part in me choosing my theme as I wanted it all to complement each other and it's kind of all just come together nicely
Good luck, look forward to seeing what you come up with.

having a venue in mind definitely helps with choosing a theme or colour scheme - its what is helping me choose!!
i agree with the others that pastel shades would be lovely (would probly make me hungry tho at that time of year thinking about yummy mini eggs!!
) maybe with an accent colour of ur favourite colour of gerbera that could be brought through in your flowers etc. Dont think u have to stick to 2 colours, just pick 2/3 of ur faves (e.g. yellow, baby blue and hot pink/orange)and have others to blend things together - having a mix of colours means u could have all different colour sweets too
An easter egg hunt could be a great favour alternative, or u could give little bags of mini eggs. Think lindt bunnies might get a bit expensive - tho they are delicious!!
Musical table names sounds like a great idea too and would go with anything, alternatives could be love songs or maybe musical terms like allegro, andante, fortissimo etc
Hope this helps!! Sorry if iv let my imagination run a bit!

if i could go back and redo my wedding i would have pink and orange cause they're such bright sunshine colours. That said if you're going for mini eggs and chocolate you might be better off with pastel colours? You could choose a few colours (pink, blue, yellow and green poss) and then you could have 1 dress for the bridesmaids but have them in all the different colours?

just had some more ideas when rocking my little one to sleep!!
keeping with the music theme maybe colourful picks as favours engraved with your names or initials and wedding date on - could inspire someone to learn! and a wedding cake topper of a treble clef ooooor personalised cake topper with a fave instrument on (im guessing he can play!!) eg. piano or guitar
and musical trivia cards as ice breakers on the tables

I like the idea of pastel shades with accents of brown personally. When I was first thinking about a spring wedding I was thinking about having all my BM's in the same style dress but different pastel colours, depending on what colour sited them best. My sister was going to be in yellow as she's tanned and can pull it off, my future SIL was going to be in baby blue and my niece who's 8, would be in pink. They could all have sashes in brown to tie in with each other.
You could certainly do an easter egg hunt, maybe after the meal but before the evening guests arrive. I think that's a great way to keep everyone entertained.
There's a few companies out there that offer pick and mix stalls but if you're after something specific then why not make your own? You can get relatively cheap storage jars at Ikea or The Range and fill them with sweets of your choice. Do you know someone with a Makro card (or a similiar cash and carry/ wholesaler card?) If so, then you can pick up all the sweets at a low cost too.
Daffodils would be a great flower to use too.
You say your h2b teaches music, is that to children? I think I read in the magazine that a school teacher had their class sing at the ceremony while they signed the register and said it was a lovely, personal touch. Many people put their centrepieces on circular mirrors, maybe you could put them on vinyls instead. Or, sounds a bit weird, you could make something out of blank CD's for your centerpieces.
I agree that having a venue in mind will really help when deciding on colours/ theme. When we were still considering the spring theme I saw a venue that I really liked and the two just wouldn't have gone together. Now our theme, and venue are totally different so it just goes to show that even when you think you know what you want, you can always change your mind!
Your budget also plays a big part in deciding. I wanted unusual colours at mine but it's so much harder to find those colours and in the right shade so that everything matches. It really boosts the price when you can't shop around

I am getting married in May 2011 and have almost certainly decided to go for Chocolate brown with Hot pink accessories. I considered the pastel shades, so i totally agree with the others that have mentioned that idea. The only reason i didnt go with it is because it didnt suit my bridesmaids. I love the idea of cadbury purple with lilac/mini egg theme! You could then have mini eggs as your wedding favors too, or your centrepieces could be martini glasses/vases filled with mini eggs and flowers?!! Good luck!
