Colour of BM dresses & H2B Kilt Does it match?

Looking for a little bit of advice, I would really like my BMs to be in a deep purple colour
http://www.morilee.c...m...pag=1&bsel=
but the problem is my H2Bs tartan is Grey with a red stripe through it http://www.lochcarro...mpson_grey.html
As you can see it is a very thin red stripe but he is insistant on wearing his red cravat also, do you think the purple dresses would go? Also you can not hire H2B kilt so i plan on hiring a similar grey tartan for Best man, ushers, dads etc.
Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

It is quite common for the kilts and bridesmaids not to match if the groom already has a kilt.
The bridesmaids dress is gorgeous, and I love the colour. The only way to have them matching would be red or silver dresses, but I don't think they need to match.
My hubby had a charcoal grey kilt, but I didn't have any bridesmaids to worry about.

I think you should just go for dresses that you and your bridesmaids like, and not worry too much about the kilts.
If you liked red, it would be lovely it all matching, but I'm sure it will be just as lovely if they don't.
Where are you getting married?

For what it's worth, I think purple and red would go, you could incorporate the 2 colours into the rest of the day too

My hubby wore a grey kilt too.
You can also hire a black kilt which is lovely too, it would look very smart with your colourscheme.

Thanks hun.
I love kilts, thye a very smart. We loved the grey ones straight away (hubby couldn't hire his own tartan here). It went perfectly with my dress.
I was so glad when hubby and my dad said they would wear them. Both are scottish but had never worn one before.
I saw the black ones in the shop as well and they are lovely too.

Yeah, i have to agree. When he first said about wearing it i wasn't so sure then saw pics of him wearing one as usher at his fathers wedding and he looked amazing (altough of course i'm bias, lol). I'm not too sure if my dad would wear one.. i cant imagine him wearing one but thinking he could wear a plain black suit but with the fushica cravat?? Awh, thats good that your wedding was the first time they had worn them

My dad took his time to decide. The alternative for him was a nice grey suit, but he decided he wanted to be the same as hubby and the bestman. They all looked lovely though.
The suit will look fine for your dad though. No point in him being uncomfortable in something. Although my dad and hubby said they could used to wearing it as it was really comfy.
Good luck with your search!!

haha, that's my FIL, he's a bit insane
Also, my dad was in Australia up until 3 days before our wedding so didn't wear a kilt, he just hired a mourning suit to wear and it was fine
Yeah I'll send you the photos once I get to work today. My photographer was amazing, and the photos turned out brilliantly considering it was a dul overcast day and it was just about to POUR with rain! x

Hi Mrs Shaw, I was just trying to look at your pics so that I could give my H2B an idea of this colour scheme but unfortunately Flickr wouldn't let me, I was just wondering if there was any way that I could have a sneak peek at even just a couple of your pics, I would be very grateful, thanks in advance.xx
