we have chossen a movie theme and was going to name the tables after some of our favorite films!! but i really have no ideas what esle to do ie decoration for rooms & tables ??any ideas would very much be appreciated!!thanks in advance!!sazzzie

the table names can be a picture of the movie inside a clapperboard photo frame.

You can have photos / posters of your favourite movies in the reception venue

Music - you can walk into/out of ceremony to your fave movie music

You can do a table plan like the credits from a movie

you can do a movie dance for the disco (ie dirty dancing or something)

Invites can be done like a movie poster - or like cinema tickets

What about making it look like the Oscars? Red carpet etc. Just take your inspiration from the photos of the ceremony.

OMG OMG i cant believe there is someone else with the same theme as me!!! I didnt think there'd be many people if any with the same so i'm well excited.

Me and H2B are really big movie watchers so this is how the theme came about for us.

So far we are having....

Large clapper boards as table centres with the table names written on (table names being films of course)

We're having movie poster in the entrance to the venue to make it look like your going into the cinema

We're also hiring a popcorn machine and having a sweet buffet so it feel like your at the cinema too.

The music that we're going to have played quietly during the wedding breakfast is going to be from movie sound tracks (generally the scores)

I'm going for the black and white thing now as i think this will look good against the black and white clapper boards.

Our place names are cinema tickets and on the front is the guests name and on the back were giving everyone a charactor from a movie especially friends as we have a standing joke with them about it.

I'm sure theres something i havent put on here but i cant remember right now. Be great to discuss some of the ideas you have.

Sounds like a great theme. My sister-in-law didn't have a movie theme but had an old black and white film playing on a big screen during the wedding breakfast. Think it was Breakfast at Tiffanys they played.

your ideas r great!!mine is not a black & white colour scheme so i think thats why i finding it so hard!!our colours r navy/midnight blue & spun gold! my mum has found a localy company near us that does theme nights but that use the lighting effects i want to have!!we choose it cause we both love movies & iam going to put a dress code on invites cause earlier this year we got invited to my htb work mate evening do whaich was loverly but some of there friend turned up in jeans & i thought it was awful!!i think if u r invited to someone important day u really make an effort!!

We are also having a movie themed wedding, although not till 2011!! The proposal kind of decided our theme for us- We got engaged on the Jaws ride in Universal Studios.

*We are def having the tables named after movies (can you guess what the top table will be named!? hehe) My h2b had the idea of putting somewhere on the invites asking people their fave movie. That will help us get soundtrack music for playing during the meal, also we are going to put a quote from it on their placecard.

*Having the popcorn/candy table.

*Possibly having movie poster made up.

*Having a red carpet thing as you walk into the reception hall, thought about getting the photographer to be there taking pics like paparazzi style.

*Also the venue that is top of our list at the moment has a piano in the area where guests would mingle for drinks when we are getting photo's taken, so thought of getting someone to play movie themes on it as entertainment-some themes can sound beautiful on the piano.

*Favours are possibly going to be the clapperboard keyrings, my h2b wants to give everyone a cinema ticket, but don't think he realises how expensive that would be!

Well that's all we have thought about so far, not bad as we only got engaged in September! but I would love to hear if you guys come up with anything else.

i have an idea..
choose your most favorite movie then made a poster and put it in the reception and/or in entrance..
instead of the actual characters of your favorite movie in the poster change it with your photos (you and your h2b)

Not sure how to upload photos at the mo but will try and get one on of my place card holder that my grandad made and me n H2B have painted, there clapper boards made from wood with a groove down the centre for the card to sit in and there ace (or I think they are anyway!!) Will hopefully get them up soon.
