We have just booked our wedding for next May Day, was going to have a May Day theme, but now gonna have a seashell/beach theme, does anyone know where we can get seashell themed stationery? Have trawled the internet and can only find American sites with nice invites etc, also does anyone know what the boards are called that they have at places like Blackpool where people put there heads through to have a picture taken - the silly beach type of things. Want to see if I can get hold of one to hire or buy.

Any other ideas for this theme very much appreciated, as with 3 kids its a little difficult to have the quiet time to try and find out all these type of things.

Thanks

hi!

they are called photo boards from what i can see. i found this site http://www.eventprop...thru-Board-Prop

which might help. Didn't check prices or locations but am guessing there are probably more places.

also for the invites i found this

http://www.helloluck...edding_theme=99

maybe you could take a picture of your favourite beach or something connected to your theme and create your own invites?

other ideas maybe hurricane lamps as centrepieces on your tables, you could collect shells and write people's names on for the tables. (something your kids could help with if they are old enough?)

hope this helps...

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Your theme sounds lovely and if you're after some jewellery ideas then Swarovski do some lovely beach themed pendants (starfish, shell etc) that you might like to consider. x

thanks for the replies, some great ideas. Really want to get hold a a 'peep through board' as think this would be fun, but can't seem to find anywhere that hires them in the Midlands, and to get one hired & sent from London is gonna cost loads of money. Going to Blackpool on Friday - will I fit one in my handbag!!!!

hi

love the ideas! If i was doing this theme I would take a photo of the beach/beach huts and do my stationary that way, you could have mini sand pits on the tables as table centres.

as for the board do you know any one who can paint as you could always make your own! (bit of a hard slog but you could then tailor it to your day comical bride and groom on beach!!)

will have some more of a think

I've just made some beachy invites for a friend. Unfortunately I'm away from home till next weekend but will e-mail you some photos then if yu'd like?
You could also use some smooth stones from the beach as your name places, have seen them either with the name written on or attached with some rough cord which both looked lovely

Hi
I just saw this site suggested on another forum regarding coconut shies etc. They don't have any seaside boards shown but they look like a good start for a contact as they may be able to suggest something suitable and can locate props for themes:

As for invitations there are quite a few of us professional stationery companies who use the forum who may be able to help with invitations as I think most of us provide a bespoke service or can adapt our own designs to suit your theme.

Emma - www.twenty-seven.co.uk

Hi,

I made my own invites, using a photo of a heart drawn in sand. Was quite easy to do.

I think the idea of a personalised cut out is fab. You can have such fun with that. If you can't manage it, what about a large photo frame, with seashells stuck to it. People can then "frame themselves" for pics.

My table centres are hurricane lamps with seashells in, and instead of a bigger cake I am having a cupcake tower, with the cupcakes having little motifs on like starfish, bucket and spade etc.

Ooh just a thought, what about those cheeky retro postcards? They could be used for the table plan, or incorporated into the invites somehow.

On the destination board there is a pic of a really fab cake, perhaps have a look there. I like the idea of large stones with names on for place names. Gives a good excuse for a trip to the beach.

Where abouts are you? Rockmywedding.com recently had a thing on Brighton that was quite cool and might inspire you a bit.

Were having a shell theme, a friend is making our invites, am going to decorate M7S cakes with shells and all the table centre pieces are fishbowls with an ivory candle in surrounded by sand and shells. Am thinking of getting those chocolates that are shell shaped for the favours x

I'm new to the site!!!

I'm having a beach theme in St Ives!! Cant wait! laugh.gif I love all the ideas on this forum especially the goldfish bowl idea and i'm gona try and convince my H2B to get some giant bucket and spades or some cardboard surfboards that I saw on a link- We're on a tight budget you see!

I'm thinking about making my own postcards with my favourite picture of St Ives and using them as 'save the date' cards. I just need to find out how to make them!!!!!! Not the best person at arts and crafts.

If anyone has got any ideas that may help it would be much appreciated.

St Ives B2B x

We went to a wedding this summer where the Bride and Groom had collected pebbles from the beach a few days before and then wrote our names on them as place settings/favours. This was a lovely idea and cost practically nothing.

With the money that you save we have a collection of wedding accessories that have seashells and starfish on them. They are part of our Beach Bride Collection.

There are earrings, necklaces, combs and a tiara and they can be made in any colour that you want to match your theme.

have sand and pebbles as the centerpeices
name tables after seas/rivers/beaches etc
uses pebbles with names written on as placenames
sea music during the dinner
ice cream seller instead of dessert.
have deck chairs outside for when the photos are taken with big beach games, such as footballs, twiser, swing ball etc
