Indecision - Purple in summer?!? What to do?

But now I'm worried that it might look a bit strange in mid-summer. The plan was that the girls (BMs) would wear predominantly deep purple (cadbury type) dresses, just past knee length, prom type dresses, my flowers will be purple (various shades but with the dominant colour being a darker shade) and the girls white flowers. Button holes would also be a darker purple. Other than that there would be a few splashes of purple through the tables (not too much) and of course the invites etc. To be honest the venue is so beautiful it never needed much in the way of decoration so I'm still quite comfortable with crisp white linen, basic table decor etc.
H2B originally planted this seed of doubt in my mind.... so I hold him entirely responsible, but now he says he's happy with it if it's what I want, he thinks it'll look great etc etc - but it's in my mind now...
Oh what to do ladies? What do you think??
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions xx
PS at the moment I have the option to change (though I have no idea what I'll change to) as I haven't bought or commited to anything purple!!

I think purple will be fine for summer, particularly with the white flowers for your bridesmaids which will be a fresh, bright contrast against their dresses. I think it will really work!
Enjoy your planning x

I had claret red, gold and ivory for an August wedding and my Mum worried because it was Christmassy colours, but I didn't care, I like Christmassy colours and I wanted warm weather for my wedding, so why not.
I say have whatever you like!

They had lots of purple in their flowers, with pinks too. I had purple/blue flowers.
We incorporate quite a bit of pink actually - it was both colours. You could always tone down with ivory/white if you feel it'll be too much.
Remember though, that not all the purple things will be next to each other - so it won't just be one dark mass.
I'll try and add my official picture link to my signature..

As well as looking the same as at every other time of year when it gets dark - when it is still light it has a rich, luxurious look and is always stunning!
I honestly think it is one of the most sophisticated colours there are, which is probably why the Royals and Prince Bishops used it.
If it helps - pm me your e-mail address and I'll see if I have any pics from those events and I'll mail them to you

My dress was lilac, my bridesmaid was a wee bit lighter than cadbury, flowers were pinks and white, top layer of our cake was iced purple, men wore purple cravats and hubby had a silver one. I even had a purple tiara!

I had purple at my July wedding this year - you can see a load of pictures in my link in my signature. I think purple worked really well not just for a summer wedding but also taking into consideration the colourings of my BMs. It's also my favourite colour!
Go with what YOU like is my advice!

I am a huge purple fiend and getting married next March, so there was never any question on our colour scheme.. I say go with it, it doesn't matter what season it is it'll be fab! We're having cadbury purple for bm dresses, cravats for the boys and having purple anenomes with white tulips so think it should be a lovely contrast as it's such a strong colour. I'm having Dairy milk miniatures as favours and purple petals on tables as well as tulip-filled goldfish bowls for centrepieces. My dress is ivory but I'm wearing some gorgeous purple shoes underneath just bcos it's so me!
At the end of the day you need to go with what you want, regardless of the season! I'm so not into lilac, which would have been a lot more spring-like, i always wanted the darker purple shade when i got married so that's what we're doing!
Hope that helps
xx
