Hi guys.
Im planning a wedding for december 19th 2010. ive been on a few websites n found some amazing ideas. so i thought if i share some i have found, then maybe any of you christmas brides could share with me your ideas. il try to make my ideas brief so not to bore, if you want any more info il help as much as i can.

I found that visting quite a few weddings a lot of people leave favours for one reason or another. So one idea is that you normally have a guest book table, well either on this table or a seperate one have big old fashioned sweet jars and some scoops (which you can find on ebay, ikea etc.. mega cheap) then place in them old fachioned sweets that match your colour theme. mine is probably crimson red, so have thought rubarb and custards, strawberrys and cream etc) or chocolate coins...the list is endless!! then get your hands on some paper bags they use in sweet shops, again mega cheap. u can then place cards, tags or stickers on the bags with a little note saying anything you wish, date of the wedding, thank you note anything!! Best thing is it can be left out all night for all the guests and everyone enjoys them! AND IF THEY LEAVE IT, BRILLIANT MORE FOR YOU AFTER TRYING TO SQUEEZE IN OUR WEDDING DRESS!! HAHA!

Next idea, place names, use candy canes on the edge of the wine glass with a tag with there name on. you can find these again mega cheap anywhere and do the tags your self, but so effective.

hope people like these ideas, and please help me with yours xxxxx

Lisa

What you have so far sounds really good, love the candy cane idea that will look so good.

I'd incorporate lots of holly too for table displays, and pine cones sprayed white - you will be able to pick these up for free!!

Maybe incorporate a warm winter cocktail into the day like winter pimms or mulled wine so that your guests feel all warm and welcome.

You could also have a cake that looks like stacked up presents.

Oohhh how exciting x

Hello to another Christmas Bride 2010!!!

We are getting marries just after christmas (30th) so arent incorporating many christmas things, im going for pink and black rather than red. We are doing christmas carols as part of the service and will be using the tree for photo's/ My favours are likely to be personalised M&M's or sweets of some kind, although SIL had christmas snow globes with father christmas's and snowmen inside which were fab (she got married on 27th dec last year)

we are doing the fur thing for the wedding party (fake not real) and are steering clear of chicken / turkey on the day as everyone will have just eaten it!

im making my own invites, order of services etc which are pink and black and plan on having candelabras as he table centre pieces (with flowers and crystals) - really like the idea of dinner by candlelight

SIL had mini christmas trees as centre pieces with battery operated lights - they were fab!

maybe we can share ideas as we go along?!

Im getting married on 31-12-09 (ahhh not long to go)
We are using winter ideas rather than Christmas, but would work for both.

Having Hand Muffs insted of flowers for the Bridesmaids (red dresses, White Muffs)
Having Mulled Wine as reception drink (bucks fizz & orange & lemonade aswell)
Will be using the Christmas tree as a back drop for some of the pic's.
Thinking of making name cards on snowflake shaped card.

Cant think of anything else at the mo, but im sure there is more.

Hello fellow Christmas brides!

Our date is December 18th 2010, so far I have thought of blue and white, but am now thinking this may not match the venue as having it in an 18th century hotel...there are lots of rich reds and greens in the hotel....I am trying to think of a completely different colour that still has the wintery theme?

I am more going for the winther theme rather than christmas, but still going for the winter pimms! Yum!

I have thought as having the world love in six different languages for my tables; with the words spelt out in those old fashioned playing cards? Have you seen them? One of my close friends is making the cake and I am thinking about having cookies with our initials in icing on them as favours?

Argh - so much to plan - so much to think about! I don't even know where to start - apart from venue!!

Help!

Lots Of Love

I've been looking for things like this myself. Are you able to find out where she got them from?

I'm going for a christmas theme, even though my wedding is at the end of november, it was the closest date we could get at our venue.

We are going to get married next december also with the colours purple & silver. We are blowing most of our budget on the venue so have to save n other places.
We are haing favours / name places in one by buying purple and silver christmas baubles and having the guests ae on one side and our names and the date on the other. So it will be 1 purple with silver writing then one silver one with purple writing.

Hi all,

Caddy... how are you writing on the baubles? I have bought clear plastic baubles that open into two and are going to be filled with sweets as favours...I thought they would look really good on a christmas tree for people to take when they leave!? Any opinions?

My venue is quite original and my dress is very pale gold... but I really dont know what colour to go for re: bridesmaids...any opinions? My dress is the only thing I have bought but have picked/paid for venue!

Any opinions gratefully received...i want winter..with tiny splashes of Christmas!

My wedding is also 2010 - in Lapland we've decided. Now I only need to decide where as the travel agents don't take bookings until Feb 10 apparently. I really would like a snow queen theme but as I'm 42 I have no idea what to wear etc ..... lots of planning to be done and congratulations to all other winter brides on here x

i always wanted a christmas wedding but then had a summer one instead.

i would have had reds, gold and greens for colours, snowflakes for a theme and a christmas tree would have been nice. I think i would have just had one big christmas party!!!!

I'm a christmas bride too, 21/12/09 (only 5 weeks to go!!!!!) we are having a christmassy wintery theme.
our colour scheme is burgandy and ivory
we are having lots of roses and holly and ivy for our flowers (my mum is doing our centre peices, silver bowls full of ivy, burgandy and ivory roses)
we have burgandy place cards and favour boxes tied with ivory ribbon and filled with champagne truffles
we are having a mulled wine welcome drink and a big bowl (decorated with holly) filled with cadbury roses
as it is so close to christmas we are avoiding turkey/chicken and going for poached dressed salmon
for reception decoration I am making topiary bay trees with burgandy roses, ivory tulle and battery operated fairy lights
for the church (this is my favourite bit) we are not having any flowers, instead we are stuffing the church full of candles (some of them winter/christmas scented)

we were going to have candle centrepeices for the reception (cheap and romantic) but our venue wouldn't let us

due to our small budget we are making a lot of things ourselves
as you have plent of time before your big day if you wanted to make things (sooooo much more personal and fun) you could save money by buying christmas stuff in the january sales as well

I'm gonna put some pictures on here after our big day so hopefully they can inspire people

good luck

I love the sweetie table idea, that sounds sooo much fun, if i was a guest at your wedding I would LOVE that!!!! takes you back to be a kid again!!

Hi all

I am new to this. Although I must say visiting this site and seeing your wedding ideas for a christmas themed wedding are feeding my bridezilla like tendencies

As yet we haven't booked a venue but we are both really keen to have an xmas wedding in december 2011

We are booked to visit two venues in december (One in Meriden and one in Brewood, Staffordshire) so we can get the feel for both places when the decorations are up (apparently this saves money on flowers)

We have decided on colours: purple, gold and ivory. However, we are stuck on a wedding cake design. We want snowflakes but we are struggling to find something that doesn't represent an XMas cake. We are based in Wolverhampton so any recommendations for wedding cake shops would be much appreciated

Also, is it too soon to start buying the little bits and bobs. We've already purchased bubbles, place cards and a wedding table planner which were all on offer from Confetti. We are sticking to the neutral gold and ivory tones at the moment in case we decide against purple. Although to be fair, purple is pretty much a definite!!!

One last question... which flowers would you recommend for an Xmas wedding? Any recommendations for Wolverhampton or Solihull based florists would be welcome

Lyns x x x

I don't think it's ever to soon to start buying things for your wedding. It all adds up n the long run doesn't it?

As for flowers, I'm having ivory and red roses with ivy and holly (of the silk variety) as we're getting married abroad and I don't want to leave my bouquet to chance when I get there. We're also having fur muffs as it's gonna be so cold!

Good luck with your venues x

I was a christmas bride too nearly 2 yrs ago!

Our colours were burgandy, ivory and silver. My bridesmaids were in burgandy and my dress had a burgandy trim and train.

I had red grand prix roses with ivy and hypericum berries in my bouquet. We served mulled wine and mince pies after the ceremony

This http://www.facebook....4...391&subject was our cake, we loved it and so did our guests! It has rudolph, santa and snowmen on it.

Hi Lisa

Your ideas sound fab. I am getting married on 18th December 2010 in Norfolk. I am having a purple & silver snowflake wedding theme. I am having purple chair covers and table cloths with silver ties. I have been buying glass candleabras for the centrepieces from Argos 1 a month and will be selling them after the wedding. I have a couple of ideas for place names either making some snowflake cookies and icing names on or collecting pine cones and spray painting silver and add a bit of glitter and put names on a card and attach to the cones. Was planning on a christmas dinner for the meal and winter pimms or hot chocolate for the welcome drinks. I have different ideas every week one of them being a display with polar bears etc like you get in a shop window at christmas then I started to look into it a bit further and realised I have a tight budget so that was out of the question. I like your candy cane idea and sweetie ideas they are fab and am thinking of using them. I am going to get cheap christmas decorations in the sale this January to decorate the venue. If you have any more ideas you want to share with me then please do all help is very welcome.

Hi Lisa here.
Well my date is now 19Th December this year, ahhhh. Starting to stress already. Lost on everything, hehe. Chosen colour theme is a grey with sparkle (bit like dark silver). but struggling. i want twinkles candles and lights everywhere. but struggling with bridesmaid dresses, so expensive. I'm thinking 3 different sized candles on a mirrored base with three little glass ramekin sized dishes each with a floating rose and then gem twinkly a tea lights around it? any one had anything similar.
Would like fur throws for the bridesmaids, but so expensive? any help?
Have heard the hip-nose rose has grey undertones in it, does any one else no of flowers that would need link in with silver grey and diamond white

xxx loving everyone's Christmas ideas. please keep them coming x

We are having a crimbo wedding 4/12/10. I've gone for a sweets 'n' sparkles theme (lots of fairy lights and a big sweetie tuck shop!) Our centre pieces are silver charger plates with a glass fishbowl containing lots of silver sparkly baubles n fairy lights smile.gif got dark blue for my CB and other girls will be in arctic blue. Flowergirl is going to be in white with a blue sash! can't wait really excited smile.gif x x

Ahhh, a date twin! I haven't actually booked my venue yet but they do still have the 4th free, so it's still a provisional date!

I'm also going to be having similar centerpieces to yours, except I'm putting both blue ans silver baubles in tall vases. I was going to go for a silver/light blue theme but I've found some gorgeous BM dresses that wouldn't look right in light blue so we're going for navy now. It will also suit the three of them much better.

I can't believe how many people are getting married in winter now. I went for it because 1. it's our anniversary two days later, 2. it's cheaper, and 3. I've always prefered winter anyway, and I was under the impression that not many people got married in the winter months. I read a short article in the paper the other day about how winter weddings have had a sharp increase during the past few years

awww congratulations! My sister is in navy blue originally she was going to be in silver but she found a dress at the NWS for £45 instead of £130! bargain! she has a blue flower tiara aswell. Other bridesmaids will be in arctic blue i've told them I want that colour but style is there choice as they are all different shapes n heights.

We are going New York for our honeymoon so that's why we chose december. It's H2B birthday on crimbo day as well so i'll be gettin him some nice prezzis when we are on the honeymoon smile.gif

Hi all,

Caddy... how are you writing on the baubles? I have bought clear plastic baubles that open into two and are going to be filled with sweets as favours...I thought they would look really good on a christmas tree for people to take when they leave!? Any opinions?

My venue is quite original and my dress is very pale gold... but I really dont know what colour to go for re: bridesmaids...any opinions? My dress is the only thing I have bought but have picked/paid for venue!

Any opinions gratefully received...i want winter..with tiny splashes of Christmas!

xKx

Ooooh where did you get your baubles from?? I wanted to have baubles printed up as my favours but was going to cost over £300!!

EEE I am also 11th Dec!

Seems like i'm the only 'Christmas' bride, who isn't going 'Christmasy'! Any other December brides doing anything different?

We were to get married in Cyprus June 2011, brought forward to this yr but only date available in February was 16th Dec, wasn't sure about it but went for it. Really glad now that we have but we'd already picked our theme of hot pink, black and silver butterflies (see planning). Sometimes i worry it will look silly but other times i think, well it won't be what people are expecting as it's summery! Please say it will be ok, haha!

All your ideas are fantastic. wish now i hadn't been planning for a summer wedding, but these things happen!

xx
