<sup>My other half and I both love Dr Who and we are going to have our tables named after the actors who portayed the Dr (David Tennant is our top table)/ My inlaws dont like the idea even though my dad in law likes dr who.
I know its up to us but i just wanna know if anyone else would do this or somethin similar

hello and welcome to the forum, most people name tables after something like, like sweets, characters things like that, we named our tables after roses as this was our theme, go for it, name them after what or who want to hun it is your day

We are having a Christmas Wedding so will use plants/flowers associated with christmas time i.e Poinsettia, Holly, Mistletoe etc

I think its a great idea, were mad into films so have decided to name the table after some of our fave films. I really dont care what my parents or his parents think, its what we want and what were happy with that matters as its our day.

We're having a cocktail theme. We both met when we worked part time at an American bar and Grill which specialised in cocktails so we're naming our tables after our favourite ones we made.

We'll be making them, decorating them, take a picture of them and photoshop to a nice background with the ingredients underneith so everyone can go home and make their own.

I wanted a wedding abroad but H2B didn't want to, so this is as close as i get ha!!

Table names are a great idea and really popular! Tough luck for the inlaws, you can't keep everyone happy. Remember it's your day!
We had names on our seating plan and it was much nicer that someone sat at table 'Dalgety Bay' rather than table 10.
Many of our brides choose table names too, often places they have visited together, football grounds, famous authors, etc.

Great idea - do it if that's what you want to do. I wanted ours named after places in NY as it's my fave place and is part of our honeymoon, but as the H2B has to have some input I suppose, I gave in and we are having the tables names after Everton players - pants! NY landmarks is sooo much better!

Do it!! I'm a huge Tarantino fan (Matt's not far behind really) and I desperately want to name the tables pink, blue, blonde, white, orange, brown and Nice Guy Eddie!! At our estimate though, we're possibly going to have 8 tables plus the top table so we'd be one short! But if it turns out people can't come (which is quite possible, as some live in America and some currently aren't speaking lol) then that's defo what we're having - I don't care if the only person who gets it is my brother

We are having table names also, ours are all being named after horror films for our halloween wedding.

Talking of making them, probably a very stupid question but how do you know what size to print them out?

We had types of sweets - choccies, chewies, candies etc - and had little jars of the relevant sweets on the relevant tables. My cousin had the names of the places they were going on their honeymoon.

Definitely go for it!! It's your day so they should be named after something special to you guys. I named ours after Tiffany & Co jewellers with precious metals and gem stones as I am (obviously!) a huge fan of anything sparkly - hubby didn't really have a say in it!

I think you should go with whatever is close to you both. My Sister in Law had tree names and what they symbolised. Me and my H2B are naming our tables as special places we have been together.

We are being dull too but only because we can't agree on table names - he is just too silly!! I am going to do a small Card and include a different pic of us on each table for interest with table number on... some of them will be silly pics!!

we have named our tables after members of the England 2003 Rugby World Cup winners squad!! we have Martin Johnson, Neil Back, Lawrence Dallaglio, Johnny Wilkinson, Jason Leonard, Will Greenwood, Matt Dawson and Mike Tindall tables!!!
We did it like this for a number of reasons:
we didn't want numbers so we could avoid the whole issue of upsetting people who weren't on table 1 or 2
we also wanted to make it personal to us (we both love rugby and my h2b was my rugby coach when i played for my university womens rugby team)

If that is what you want have it. If people don't like it TOUGH it's your day, not theirs so have want you want. If they still don't like just explain to them why you want that and that it is only a tiny aspect of the day so it shouldn't bother them. It's not like you want to turn up dressed like a dalek!!!!!

im undecided 2, my h2b is called Michael Kane and gets wound up about this by people saying 'My name is Michael Caine' , so we had thought about naming the tables after films michael caine has been in such as zulu and Dark knight. Our other option was Famous landmarks , i like the idea of having something you like as it makes the day more personal to you and you h2b!

It's your wedding hun, do what YOU want! We had names of music artists that we'd seen in concert and on the cards wrote down when and where we saw them so people could understand why we had them! I think the best man mentioned about it in his speech!

My H2B is a film maker, so we're having romantic film titles as our table names.

We're having 15 tables, and the Top Table will be 'Love Actually', then things like 'The Wedding Date', 'The Princess Bride', 'Stardust', Amelie', 'My Best Friend's Wedding', 'Shakespeare In Love', 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', 'The Wedding Singer', 'P.S. I Love You', 'Sleepless In Seattle', 'Enchanted' and 'Ever After'.

I'll be putting folk on tables that can relate to the title, like my Uni Chums will appreciate 'Shakespeare in Love', whereas my Greek cousins will like 'MyBig Fat Greek Wedding', (I hope!)

Table names are another personal touch for your day, the way you want it!
